MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES…IN A FEW WORDS

The theory of Multiple Intelligences was postulated by Howard Gardner in his work «Frames of Mind» in 1983. In Howard Gardner’s view,  there are seven main areas in which all people have special skills; he calls them intelligences. This alternative perspective implies a radically different view of intelligence, opposed to Binet’s work.

According to Gardner,  an intelligence entails the ability to solve problems or fashion products that are of consequence in a particular cultural setting or community. In gardner´s words, it is of the utmost importance that we recognize and nurture all of the varied of human intelligences, and all of the combination of intelligence.

Given this, it is very likely that the weightest implication for the FL lesson is the need to provide children with plenty of variety in activities and tasks, so that we cover all strong intelligences in the classroom.
